Diabetes Awareness Program at Intellectual Education Center

Qatar Diabetes Association conducted a Diabetes Awareness program at Intellectual Education Center on 20th October 2017 as per their request.

On behalf of QDA, Dr. Anwar Mohamed Scope of Physician from Measimmer health center gave a pleasing lecture to the Students, Teachers and parents. This program aims to increase people’s awareness of diabetes and key indicators of risk factors of complications from diabetes. Dr. Anwar said, Type 1 diabetes is one of the most common chronic childhood diseases, while type 2 diabetes in children is increasing at alarming rates globally.

Against this backdrop,the school is a critical environment for children with diabetes. Increase physical activity: play sports, at school or at home with friends; take the stairs; help your parents clean etc. One of the best things that you can do is try to stay at a normal weight for your height as you are growing, and then when you stop growing as a teenager, make sure you stay active so that you donít become overweight

Mr. Sameer (nurse) from Police clinic assists for blood sugar monitoring. Two new cases have been found and refer to the health center as the follow up through QDA. A group discussion has been done after the lecture, also made a question answer session for the students.
