Diabetes is a serious health condition that affects millions of people (adults and children) around the world. Despite all the advances in diabetes treatment, education remains the cornerstone of diabetes management. Presently, diabetes is one of the most common diseases in school – aged children and teenagers.

The guide is part Qatar’s 2005 “Right of Student with Diabetes at School” program. The program is a full training course given to faculty members at school by the Qatar Diabetes Association team. The goal of this manual is two – fold: educate and inform school personnel about diabetes and show each member of the school staff how they can contribute and ensure that the appropriate diabetes care is given to the children in order for them to be safe.

Qatar Diabetes Association will prove continuing support to the school nurse via education and training.
